Robert Debeck

Robert “Bob” DeBeck Sr., 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Bucksport on July 29, 2022. He was born on April 13, 1930, in Holden, the son of Stanley M. and Viola E. (Corey) DeBeck.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Rita M. Jennings. The day of his passing was their 71st wedding Anniversary. Bob built a home in Brewer where he and Rita raised six children. He worked many places: Soule Glass & Paint Co., the Bangor Daily News, and in U.S. Post Offices in Bangor, Orrington, Bucksport, and Orland. He served his country in the Air Force Reserves from 1951-1957. He loved coaching Little League, which he did with his uncles Slip and George Corey, for more than 35 years. He was a mentor to innumerable youngsters in the Brewer community. Bob was an avid Red Sox fan, even spending their honeymoon in Boston attending 3 Red Sox games. He passed along his love of the game to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: son Robert DeBeck Jr. and his wife Jane; daughter Pam Lord and her husband David Sr.; daughter Cindy Kneeland and her husband Dave; son Jim, daughter Sharon, and daughter Susan. Bob is also survived by his grandsons David Lord Jr., Gregory Lord and his wife Heather, and Darren Cook and his wife Katie; his granddaughter Kristy (DeBeck) Lindsey and her wife Bonnie; his great-grandchildren Carson, Rogan, Elyce, and baby Cook arriving in December 2022; and his great-great grandchildren Noah, Sebastian, and Madelynn. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years Rita, and brothers Carl and Emery.

Friends may call from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday August 9, 2022. Following the funeral services, relatives and friends may share conversation and refreshments in the Family Reception Rooms of the Brewer Chapel. A private Interment for family will be at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to continue Dad’s lifelong support of the youth of the city of Brewer.
