Hampden – Robert I. Snow, 87, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, December 21, 2015, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born April 6, 1928, in Prentiss, the son of James and Eleanor (Averill) Snow McLaughlin.
Bob attended school in Prentiss and Springfield, then joined the US Navy in 1946. After serving his time in the Navy, Bob worked as an ironworker for Local #496, a job he held for 30 years. He enjoyed serving as a town councilor for the Town of Hampden. He was a past president of the Hampden Snowmobile Club; a member of Mystic Lodge #65, A.F. & A.M, of Hampden; and a member of the Anah Shriners. Most of all, Bob enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline (Sherwood) Snow; 3 children, James Snow and wife, Melissa, and their children Jamie Snow, Jr. and wife, Liza, and their children, Skylar and Nicholas, and Jeffrey Snow and his wife, Erica, and their children, Paxon and Presley; Sharon (Snow) Risser and her husband, Bill, and their children, Sarah Risser and fiancé, Evan, and Nicholas Risser and girlfriend, Chelsea; and Robert I. Snow, II, and his children, Robbie Snow III and fiancée, Meg, Rion Snow and girlfriend, Sarah, and Richard Snow; 2 sisters, Gail Scammon, and Rosalie Albert and husband, Bert; an aunt, many cousins, nieces and nephews; and special pet cat – Midnight.
The family wishes to extend appreciation to all who were involved in Bob’s care.
Graveside services will be announced in the spring. Those who wish to remember Bob in a special way may make gifts in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
