Robert Watson

January 26, 1932 — October 27, 2015

Robert A. Watson, 83, died October 27, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Veazie, January 26, 1932, the middle child of 15, to George A. and Marion L. (Hewes) Watson.

Bob served three years in the US Army, 1952-1955, in Germany where he met his wife, Rosemarie. They were married May 21, 1955. She predeceased him on September 1, 1984.

He was employed at the University of Maine as head janitor for over 40 years.

Surviving are six children, Robert Watson and his wife, Christine, of Hermon, Marion Bagley and her husband, Harvey, Mark Watson and his wife, Edith all of Veazie, Rosemarie Watson and her partner, Martin Dore of Eddington, Roderick Watson of Orono, Chris Watson and his wife, Hadassah of Rockland; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Samiya and her husband, Mike, and Marie Bacon, all of Veazie; several nieces and nephews.

Bob was blessed to meet Elaine Casey of Orono, and they spent 28 years together, prior to her death in June 2012.

He is also survived by his second family, Colleen, Kerry, Candy, Kelly, Kate, and Colby, and their extended families; Also a very special friend, Brian Cassidy.
Bob was a loving man who will be missed deeply.

Bob truly enjoyed his “Giffords” maple walnut ice cream.

A funeral service will be held noon Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Veazie Congregational Church, with Pastor David Fox, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11 a.m. until time of service, Monday. Interment with military honors will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. To honor Bob in a special way, do something kind for the elderly.
