Roberta Ruth (Bean) Saunders, 85, passed away at her home on November 14, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with dementia, She was born February 9, 1939 to Robert and Ruth Bean. She graduated from Gould Academy in 1957. She met her soulmate 60 years ago and enjoyed 44 years until his passing in 2008.
They enjoyed holding the Apple Blossom Special Bluegrass Festival in their orchards in Ellsworth, where you could often find her playing her accordion. She also enjoyed making jewelry, gardening, reading romance novels and fishing: she was able to catch more, and bigger, trout than anyone else. Her most enjoyable time was watching her son, Andy, during his stock car racing career, and then watching her granddaughter in junior drag racing.
Roberta retired from Merrill’s Furniture after 33 years of service. You would often find her after retirement attending rock and gem shows throughout the state where she made many friends.
In addition to her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her husband, Addison; and grandson, Kristopher Jordan.
She is survived by her two sons, Andy Saunders and spouse, Gayle, and Eddie Mason and spouse, Valeria; two daughters, Donna Lee and spouse, Steve, and Melody Jones and spouse, Yogi; she was a grandmother to ten, a great-grandmother to fourteen, and a great-great-grandmother to two. She is also survived by two brothers, Charles Bean and Dana Bean, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and memories from 11am-2pm Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Maine Coast Baptist Church, 867 Bangor Rd. Ellsworth, ME. Interment will be private.
