HERMON – Ronald Ray “Gramps” Emery, 78, passed away unexpectedly February 28, 2020, at his home, due to a medical event. He was born July 30, 1941, in Passadumkeag, the son of Leonard R. and Grace E. (Perkins) Emery.
Ronald graduated from Penobscot Valley High School, Class of 1959. Shortly after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline M. Duncan, and together they had five children. Ronald enjoyed working on building projects with his son, Michael, hanging out with his grandson, Erick, and spending time with family and friends at the lake or racing events. He was a member the Lynde Lodge #174, AF & AM, of Hermon, a longtime member of the Anah Shrine of Bangor, and a charter member of the Anah Shrine Keystone Kops parade unit.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Marie; a son, Ronald Mark, and a brother, Laurice “Bun” Emery. He is survived by sons, Michael Emery and wife, Patti of Boyd Lake, Brett Emery and wife, Teresa of Molina, FL, Clayton “Bill” Emery of Prospect; five grandchildren, Erick, Kristi, Ryan, Meghan, and Kaysi; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Lehman of Asheville, NC; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held May 30, 2020, at the Anah Shrine Center, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, at a time to be determined. Those wishing to remember Ronald in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Anah Shrine Center, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
