Ronald Jarvis, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully, November 3, 2024, at his home. He was the son of Hazel (St. Louis) Jarvis and Ronald E Jarvis, Sr.
Ron graduated from Carmel High School in 1959, the final class before Carmel High School closed. Following graduation, he went to Husson College for a year, then went to work at Kagan Lown. Ron owned Carmel Esso, later Carmel Exxon, with long time friend, Richard Waning, and Ron later became sole proprietor. Ron started delivering mail as a substitute Rural Carrier and soon after, sold the store. He became a full time Rural Carrier, continuing until retirement 30+ years later.
Ron married his high school sweetheart, Gail Sawyer, on February 25, 1961. They were married 42 years, until Gail passed away in 2003.
He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman, spending many Novembers at hunting camp in Dixmont. Ron and Gail leased a camp for years at Pray’s Campground at Big Eddy on the Golden Road. They loved to vacation in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI. He loved spending time in the sand and sun with family and friends.
He is survived by his brother Robert Jarvis Sr. and his wife, Ina, of Carmel; children, Robyn Dulac and husband Douglas, Laurie Gerald and husband Jeffery, Ronald Jarvis III and wife Holly; grandchildren, David McCourt and wife Katie, Jessi Trafton, John Gerald and wife Martina; great-grandchildren, Esme McCourt, Marseille McCourt, Marley Gerald and Ayla Gerald.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 11 am to 1 pm. Friday, November 8, 2024 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
