Ronald Pomroy

January 27, 1961 — March 27, 2021

HOLDEN - Ronald “Bud” Leroy Pomroy, Jr., 60, beloved husband of Gerry T. (Vanidestine) Pomroy, passed on March 27, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 27, 1961, in Bangor, the son of Ronald and Elizabeth (Kent) Pomroy. He was a devoted husband, loving father and one helluva’ friend.

Many of you know him as Bud “the painter” and owner of Bud’s Painting. He spent his life dedicated to his business and was proud to pass it on to his son.

Bud was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1980. He was grateful for the close friends he made throughout his life, extended family, and his second family, the Martins/Robertsons, who showed him love and support and treated him as their own.

If there is one thing we all will remember and miss the most, is his contagious smile and that sparkle in his bright blue eyes. To some he came off as a quiet man, but he lived his life high spirited with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and was often seen on his boat fishing, in the woods hunting with his childhood friend Seth White, at the “Happy Shack” ice fishing, and roaring down a snowmobile trail. More often than not, his daughter and son would be right there beside him. Wherever he was, he always made it home in time to watch the Patriots play or catch a Red Sox game with his family.

He was, and forever will be cherished by his wife and children. He wanted the best for his family and showed it through his love, hard work, compassion, support and guidance. On top of that, he made sure there were a lot of good times and laughter. A promise was made to him in his finals days that all of the above would continue on through his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is his son, Ronald Edward Leroy Oscar Pomroy, of Orrington; daughter, Natasha E. Pomroy, of Brewer; sister, Pollyanna (Pomroy) Smith and her husband, Roger, of Carmel; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to all who sent him get-well cards, flowers and gift-baskets and to St. Paul the Apostle Parish and St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.

The family will be holding an outside Celebration of Life for Bud this summer. Please email celebrationoflife.pomroy@gmail.com with your name, phone number and mailing address to receive an invite when the date and location has been set.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call for a brief, walkthrough remembrance 5-7 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Please be mindful of others by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering, that staff will be conducting contact tracing, and be aware that the number of people allowed in the building at one time will be limited.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bud’s honor to either the Lafayette Cancer Center, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, or a charity of your choosing.
