Corinth - Ronald Wayne Andrews, Sr., 73, died peacefully March 4, 2016, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born May 15, 1942, in Bangor, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Cousins) Andrews.
One week after Ron and his new bride, Brenda were married he joined the U. S. Air Force, serving his country as a cook … a job he enjoyed very much. He often spoke about being stationed in Greenland. It was a place he thoroughly enjoyed. When he got out Ron went to work at Bangor Hydro, first as a meter reader, and later as a truck driver. He retired with 30 years of service there. After that he and his wife Brenda owned and operated R & B Auto for at least 10 years. Ron belonged to the American Legion Post 0115 in Corinth. He liked to hunt and fish, but his passion was working on cars. Ron will be remembered as a great father, and a loving grandfather.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 51 years, Brenda, Ron was predeceased by a sister Dawn. He is survived by son Wayne Andrews and wife Lori, and daughters Tina Andrews, and Lisa Dorr and husband Dennis; grandchildren Amy Genereux and husband Joseph, Ashley Andrews and fiancé Lucas Bradford, Nicholas Dorr and wife Heather, Matthew Dorr and wife Brittany, Kaleb Dorr, and Breanna Andrews; a great granddaughter Avery Dorr; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend Ellen White. He thought an awful lot of her and enjoyed her visits immensely.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor for the wonderful care Ron received while he was there.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Rev. Bruce Stevens officiating. Friends are welcome to call 10 am until time of service Wednesday. Interment with military honors will be at Corinthian Cemetery in the spring. Those who wish to remember Ron in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Maine Veterans’ Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
