HAMPDEN AND NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Rose Ellen Kendrigan, 96, died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on September 4, 2017, at a New Jersey health care facility. She was born June 25, 1921, in Hampden, the daughter of Joseph E. and Matilda (Brennen) Perry.
Rose was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Bangor, and the Gilman Commercial School in Bangor. She was a secretary at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for many years. Rose married Robert J. Kendrigan of Manchester, NH ,on June 26, 1947. They resided in New Jersey until Robert's retirement from Exxon when they returned to Maine. Robert died in 2003. In 2009, Rose moved to NJ to be nearby her daughters in Hunterdon County, NJ.
In addition to her parents, Rose, the youngest of six children, was predeceased by her sister, Mary (Perry) Rice; and four brothers, Wilfred, Charles, Robert and John. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jeanne Mattell and husband, Thomas, of Lebanon Township, NJ, and Julie Ann Kale and her husband, Richard, of Punta Gorda, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friend are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the parish hall immediately following interment, Friday.
