Rufus D. Edwards, 52, passed away unexpectedly August 16th, 2024. He was born October 20th, 1971, in Metter, GA, the son of Johnny and Willette (Mincey) Edwards.
Rufus grew up in Georgia and later moved to Maine where he found the love for North Haven Island. He was a man of many talents, known to be able to learn to do anything he set his mind to. A strong worker and an even better community member, always helping anyone he could. Rufus enjoyed cleaning and detailing cars, making sure to clean his kid’s vehicles when they visited. He loved his children and always made sure they were well taken care of.
Surviving Rufus are his children; Shanelle, Tyrese and Jerome; siblings, Lutrinya Hall, Betty Williams, Dorothy Delma, Michael, Billy Earl Edwards Jr, Rodney Edwards, Connie Edwards, and Robert Edwards; his longtime partner, Mary Gowen; granddaughter, Willette Edwards; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his niece, Shanley Leighton.
