Russell “Rusty” E. Frey, 41, died unexpectedly June 2, 2021, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born June 26, 1979, in Bangor the loving son of Randy and Arlene (Connor) Frey.
Rusty was born with Spina Bifida. He did not let that slow him down. Rusty overcame the odds and lived a life to the fullest. He attended and graduated from Hampden Academy in the Class of 1998. Rusty also attended the Pine Tree Camp and Camp Capella. He was an avid basketball player belonging to the team High Rollers. Rusty and his team traveled to Florida to play against the Orlando Magic Wheelchair Basketball Team. He was always ready for an adventure, always ready to pack his bags for a trip. Rusty enjoyed trips to Florida and Connecticut.
Rusty is survived by his loving mother, Arlene Frey; loving sister, Jennifer Pete and husband James; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. In addition to his father, Randy, Rusty was predeceased by paternal grandparents, John and Winona Frey; maternal grandparents Phyllis and Reginald Greenleaf and Herbert Connor; and a special cousin Laura Frey.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 12:00-1:00 PM, Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Goodwill Riders Snowmobile Club, 844 Western Ave, Hampden.
