November 18, 1957 — June 19, 2014

BANGOR &PORTAGE – Russell Lee Goodblood, 56, died unexpectedly Thursday June 19, 2014, at his residence in Bangor. He was born November 18, 1957, in Kittery, the son of Cleveland V. and Patricia O. (LaBelle) Goodblood. Russell grew up in Portage and was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1976. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and upon his discharge enrolled at Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle majoring in diesel mechanics. Russell then enlisted in the Army National Guard and served with the 112th Medivac Air Ambulance where he was a crew chief on a Blackhawk. He served in Bosnia and Desert Storm. He was very proud of his military career and loved and enjoyed all who served with him. Russell was a longtime member of the Bangor Elks Lodge #244. He also enjoyed playing pool, gambling, going to" Uncle Joes" camp, Nascar and the New England Patriots. He was predeceased by his father Cleveland. In addition to his mother Patricia of Portage, he leaves behind his wife Deborah (Lawson) Goodblood of Bangor, a daughter Delaney Goodblood of Bangor, five siblings, Jeanne Long and her husband Daniel of Portage, Rhonda MacDonald of Ashland, Julie Clark of Plattsburg, NY, Timothy Goodblood of Skowhegan, Sandra Hafford and her husband Lucas of Washburn. He also leaves behind his special aunt "Aunt Jo" Joan Goodblood of Ashland as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his very close friend Phil Smith. A memorial gathering will be held June 29th , 2pm-4pm at the Bangor Elks Lodge #244 at 108 Odlin Rd., Bangor, with the Elks Chaplin Karen Cullen officiating. Interment with military honors will take place July 1st, 2pm at the family cemetery in Portage Lake, 1.7 miles past Coffins store on the left on route 11, luncheon to follow.
