Glenburn - Ruth Elaine (Wiles) Cutler was born in Lowell, MA on April 5, 1926. On September 12, 2019 she left her earthly home peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. She has been reunited in Heaven with her parents, Gordon and Eula (Dysart) Wiles, husband, Paul Cutler Sr, daughter, Marcia Nowell, brother, Alfred, son-in-law, Richard Treadwell Sr, and stepchildren, Paul and Beverly.
Mom and Dad moved to Maine in 1945 and eventually bought a farm in Glenburn and together operated a sawmill in Levant for many years. She later worked at the Taylor Osteopathic Hospital and then at Piper’s store in Levant. She was a hard worker and would have worked till her last day, if possible. Mom was a member of the Beacon of Hope Church.
Mom continued to drive until she was 90 and Carol and I teased her about going to Bangor almost every day, which she denied. We’re glad you were able to and we know how hard it was when you lost that freedom. We filled that void as best we could, but we know life was never the same.
Mom’s favorite past times were riding her lawn mower, tending her flower gardens and decorating for holidays. Christmas was her favorite. We can’t begin to count the number of Treadwell birthdays she celebrated and the many breakfasts and Walmart stops she and Carol made. She took many trips to CA over the years and loved visiting Linda (and her apricot trees), but never wanted to live there. Christmas mornings and Easter dinners with my family will never be the same, but we will continue to add some creative fun to them. Jim will still tell of his work on the oil rigs, but Mom will hear them from afar. If Mom could not assemble and reassemble a car, it was not for lack of John‘s many instructions in person or on his drive home from work. She loved yard sales and lunches with her sister, Dottie. She had many memorable road trips and dining experiences with her dear friend, Candy. I know how comforting it was for her to have her own private nurse (granddaughter, Amy) during any hospital stays and as her loving caregiver at home during her final days.
Mom’s goal was to reach 100 years of age, but she believed that when God put her on this earth, he also knew what day she was to leave. She did not reach the goal, but she sure made a good run for it and did things her way.
Mom leaves behind her children: Carol Treadwell, Linda Embry and husband, Walt, Jane Withee and husband, Pete, Jim and wife, Nancy and John and wife, LouAnn, 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren, her siblings; James, Elinor, Fred and wife, Joyce, Dorothy and husband, Ken, Blanche; many nieces, nephews, and a bonus daughter-in-law, Maxine Cutler, her children and their families.

Mom’s funeral will be held at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Officiating for Beacon of Hope will be Pastor David Bean and Bradley Preble.
