Ruth Hurd, 97, passed away April 3, 2022 at her home. She was born in Medford, MA. December 29, 1924, the daughter of Roy C. and Julia (Lane) Hurd. Ruth was raised by her maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and William Lane.
She attended public schools in Medford, MA., graduating from Medford High School on June 2, 1942.
Ruth began her working career at The New England Trust Company, Boston, working in the trust and probate departments until 1962. She then became employed with the Massachusetts Council of Churches as a secretary in the department of pastoral services. In March of 1965 Ruth became the secretary to the pastor of Grace Chapel in Lexington. She left that position to become secretary to the head of the investment department of Canal National Bank in Portland, ME. Finally, she worked as an assistant to the treasurer of Tremont Temple Baptist Church, Boston, MA. and retired from there in December 1990.
During her membership at the Grace Chapel she was an active volunteer serving on many committees, volunteering in the office and was a member of the choir. At the time of her death, Ruth was a member of Columbia Street Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Hurd Forward and cousin, Florence Dinsmore.
She is survived by many who have been blessed to have Cousin Ruthie be a part of their lives.
