Ruth Grindle Leclair, 89, known to her friends as “Rootie”, passed away April 5, 2016, after a short illness, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Rootie graduated from Orono High School. After graduation, Rootie raised her six children and worked for the University of Maine, eventually retiring as a Lab Technician.
Rootie had a love of birdwatching. She was always very active, enjoying kayaking, tennis and biking. In her 50’s, she took up motorcycling. Rootie was known for being full of life.
In addition to her parents, Rootie was predeceased by her son, John LeClair. She is survived by her children, Dana LeClair and wife, Leanne of Glenburn, Carol Denno of Old Town, Michael LeClair of Auburn, Julie McHenry and husband, Dan of Port Charlotte, FL and Joseph LeClair and husband, David Maietta of North Port, FL; grandchildren, Jeremy LeClair, Nathan LeClair, Adam LeClair, Trevor Marcho, Jillian Woodbury, and Carter McHenry; as well as seven great grandchildren.
A celebration of Rootie’s life will be held 2 – 4pm, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Denno home, 731 College Ave, Old Town, ME.
