It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sandra Jean (Marcoux) Vilasuso. After a 2-year courageous battle with cancer, Sandy passed peacefully at her home on May 28th, 2023, surrounded by her family. Sandy was born in Bangor, Maine, on February 10th, 1967, to Gabrielle and Robert Marcoux Sr.
Sandy grew up in Bangor and attended Bangor Schools. She graduated from Bangor High the class of 1985. Sandy then went on to attend college at Husson University studying business.
In the early 90’s she met the love of her life, soulmate, and husband now of 30 years. Ron made a true country girl out of her. They moved to Hopkins Pond where she developed a love for the outdoors and learned to hunt and fish. Sandy opened a craft shop in Aurora where she loved spending time crafting and talking with her customers.
In 1997 their first child, Daniel, was born. In 1999, Ashlee was born. The kids became Sandy’s life. Her entire world revolved around being a mom to Dan and Ash. She had a love for them that knew no bounds. That love only continued to grow stronger as they grew older.
Sandy was a beautiful person inside and out. She had a huge heart and fun-loving spirit. She always put her family and friends first. She loved doing for others. Often you would find her making crafts and homemade gifts for people for no certain occasion except to let you know she loved you and was thinking of you.
In addition to spending time with Ron and the Kids, Sandy enjoyed spending time with her sisters working on crafts. Together they would knit, crochet, make baskets and quilts. She also enjoyed the frequent “girls” lunches with her sisters, niece, and cousins. She enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens. Above all she simply enjoyed just spending time with her family, regardless of how the time was spent. Her love for her family was her drive to live. She was determined she would defeat the cancer. Never giving up, always searching for another treatment, another option, another chance for just one more day with the ones she loved.
A special note of thanks to the Hospice nurses who provided exceptional care to Sandy during the last days of her life along with providing support and guidance to the family during such a difficult time.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Ron Vilasuso; her daughter, Ashlee Vilasuso; her Son, Daniel Vilasuso and wife, Harley; stepsos, Matt Vilasuso, Mike Vilasuso, Brent Vilasuso and wife, Kristen; sister, Cynthia Paschal and husband, Keith Paschal; sister, Marie Whitcomb and husband, George Whitcomb; brother, Robert Marcoux Jr. and wife, Annette Sullivan; sister-in-law, Jennie Willis and husband, Jim; sister-in-law, Julie Vilasuso and partner, Scott Mitchell.
