SCOTT ALLEN THOMAS,

BANGOR

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Scott Allen Thomas, 58, of Bangor, Maine, who left us unexpectedly on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bangor.

Scott was born on September 19, 1966, in Ellsworth, Maine, to Robert A. and Carol P. (Moses) Thomas. He grew up in Arizona and Maine, where he cultivated a love for serving, music, and family. A proud graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1984, Scott went on to earn two Bachelor of Science degrees and an associate degree from the University of Maine, a testament to his dedication and drive.

A devoted father and entrepreneur, Scott spent his early career in Iowa before returning to his beloved Maine in 1997, where he worked at Thomas Tax & Financial Services before establishing his own tax preparation firm in 2005. He took great pride in his work and, above all, in the opportunity to pass his knowledge and business on to his children.

Summers held a special place in Scott's heart, as he carried on a cherished family tradition of selling ice cream at state fairs across Maine, from Bangor and Skowhegan to Windsor and Clinton. This tradition, deeply woven into his childhood, became a labor of love he carried down through four generations.

Though never formally trained, Scott possessed an incredible gift for playing the piano by ear. His music filled rooms with warmth, offering joy and comfort to all who had the privilege of hearing him play. Whether at home, at church, or during his volunteer work at Stillwater Health Care, his melodies became a source of peace and happiness.

A man of unwavering faith, Scott was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found purpose in serving others. His extraordinary generosity and tireless work ethic defined him, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

On December 24, 2019, Scott married Heather (Burgess) Thomas, a union built on love, laughter, and a deep devotion to family. Together, they shared a beautiful life, travelling and cherishing every moment with their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Heather; his sons Chad Thomas of southern Illinois, Justin Thomas and his wife, Brooke, of northern Illinois, Cameron Thomas and his wife, Brittney, of southern Wisconsin, and Tristan Thomas and his wife, Kayla, of Orono; his daughter, Laken (Thomas) Lackie, and her husband, Kevin, of northern Virginia; bonus daughter Emmalynne Burgess of Portland and twelve cherished grandchildren who adored their grandfather.

He also leaves behind his parents, Robert and Carol Thomas of Bangor; brothers Robert Thomas Jr. of Boston and Sean Thomas and his wife, Megan, of Hampden; sisters Debbie (Thomas) D'Amboise and her husband, Scott, of Topsham, Amy (Thomas) Yeakley and her husband, Rourke, of Boise, Idaho, Katya (Thomas) Munz and her husband, Brian, of Boise, Idaho, and Elya Thomas of Bangor; as well as many nieces, nephews, and his beloved pets, Abbey and Minnie.

A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 639 Grandview Ave, Bangor, ME 04401. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Scott's life, with refreshments to follow as we share memories and honor his legacy.
