Sharon Bennett Caron, 80, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 29, 1943 to John and Pauline (Smith) Bennett. She lived in Orrington all her life, attending Blanch K Blake and No. Orrington Schools before graduating Brewer High School, class of 1961, as Valedictorian.
In 1960, Sharon met her future husband, Allen Caron on a blind date at an Orrington Methodist Church MYF meeting through a fellow member who worked with Allen at a shoe factory. They married September 1, 1962 and were married over 60 years. Together, they raised their two sons, Ronald and Daniel, in the home they built in Orrington. They enjoyed many camping trips and traveled across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and Canada. They tented, enjoyed pick-up truck camping and 5th wheel camping. They loved time spent at their camp that she and Allen built in 1996 at Schoodic Lake.
Sharon was a member of First United Methodist Church and attended Bible School, MYF, as well as sang in the choir during her younger years. Sharon taught Sunday School and was a Cub Scout den mother and served on the Boy Scout committee until her sons were out of scouting. She belonged to the 4H Club and learned to sew and exhibited items at the Bangor State Fair. She was employed with Webber Oil Company for 42 years, doing bookkeeping for various subsidiaries, and was secretary and administrative assistant to Presidents and Vice Presidents. She retired in 2005.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her husband, Allen; sister-in-law, Laurie Bennett; brother, Wayne Bennett and his wife, Sharon Bennett. She is survived by her siblings, Donna Golding, John Bennett and partner, Betty Keller; sons, Ronald and wife, Donna, and Daniel and wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Zachary and wife, Brooke, Shelby and husband, Tony, and Charlotte; great grandchildren, Milo and Harper Rae; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Sunday, May 19 from 3-6 p.m. at Jeff’s Catering, 15 Littlefield Way, Brewer. A private burial will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery.
