Sharon Eloise Briggs, 77, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 12, 2019, after a brief illness. Sharon was a dedicated wife, mother and a friend to all who knew her. Sharon enjoyed card games, puzzle making, quiet time reading and visiting with family. And she loved going out to breakfast.
Sharon was known for her hard work and her friendly personality during her years of employment at the Hermon Thriftway and Shaws Supermarket on the Hogan Road.
Sharon Eloise Purvis was born in Carmel, Manie, on May 6, 1942, the daughter of Harold R Purvis and Ruth P (Ross) Purvis of Carmel. She attended school in the Bangor area and was a 1960 graduate of Bangor High School.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Dean Briggs; sister, Phyllis and brother, Robert.
Sharon is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Sonja Renee (Brewer) Grant and her husband, Erik and her grandson, Alexander Christopher of Gilbert, AZ; sister, Helen Cannon and her husband, Del of Bossier City, LA; brothers, Everett Purvis and his wife, May of Veazie, Richard Purvis, and his wife, Ruth of Bangor; step-daughter, Dee-Ann Briggs-Chartier and her husband, Mark and their children, Joshuah, Kyone and Mikailah of Shelton, WA. Numerous nieces and nephews.
A reception in her honor will be held on Thursday December 19 from 1pm-3pm at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, ME. Those who wish to remember Sharon in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Habitat For Humanity International, 322 W Lamar St Americus, GA 31709.
