Sheila A. (Merrill) Goodwin, 69, wife of the late Edwin H. Goodwin, passed away December 8, 2015, at a Brewer healthcare facility. She was born December 3, 1946, in Bangor the daughter of the late Theodore and Rachel (Wiggin) Merrill of Corinth.
Sheila grew up in East Corinth and graduated from East Corinth Academy in 1964. She worked in retail as a cashier for over 45 years, working at K-Mart and the Christmas Tree Shop. Sheila belonged to Altrusa International of Greater Bangor and Beta Sigma Phi International Society and held many different offices in both organizations. Sheila enjoyed Sisters Day, yard sales, computer games, rides and volunteering. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Brewer Rehabilitation and Living center for all their love and support as well as Sheila’s many friends that supported her throughout her illness.
Sheila is survived by her sisters, Mary Louise Hatch, husband Danny of Bangor, Carolyn McHale, husband George of Corinth; her children, Earl Steven Goodwin, wife Sheila of Hawaii, Diane Simpson, husband David of Glenburn; special niece and nephew, Debra Bell, husband William, Scott Hatch, wife Kristy; grandchildren, George Wells III, wife Maria, Cory Wells, Kayla Mahar, husband Kyle, Jody Geaghan, husband Chris and their daughter Abigail, Evan Goodwin, Brad McLaughlin, wife Sierra, and their daughter Elliott, Heath Simpson, wife Jessica and their children, Aryanna and Jashum; and many friends.
A celebration of life service and committal will be held 1 PM, Saturday, Dec. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with Rev. Arlene M. Tully, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Bangor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the service.
