Sheldon Hartstone

Sheldon L. Hartstone, 90, died unexpectedly January 8, 2025, at his home. He was born September 3, 1934, in Bangor, the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Share) Hartstone.

A well-known developer and business owner of Fairmount Hardware, Sheldon graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1953. He married Valerie Hawkins who died May 10, 2001.

Surviving Sheldon, are his children, Allison MacDonald and her husband, Thomas, Andrew and his wife, Ruth Heritage, and Heather and her partner, Dan Saunders; six grandchildren, Thomas MacDonald Jr., Jacob MacDonald, Erin MacDonald, Emma MacDonald, Taylor Hartstone and Amyanne Hartstone; brother, Fred Hartstone and his wife, Linda; and a sister, Sharon Levine and her husband, Mark (Chick). In addition to his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by his younger brother, Barry.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in Beth Abraham Cemetery, Severance Rd., Bangor, immediately following the service. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, following interment.
