Shirley Diana

Shirley Diana, 88, passed away peacefully January 2, 2014, at her residence in Brewer. She was born April 29, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Frank and Emily (Sellman) Tholl. Shirley retired from a long career in film processing industry before moving to Maine. She had a great passion for sewing, crocheting, knitting and cooking. Her most favorite pastime was traveling the United States camping which is what brought her and her husband to Maine. Shirley was also a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Choir. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Dante “Danny” Diana who died in 2010; and a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Nancy Diana. She is survived by a daughter, Emily Brandner and husband Erik and grandchildren Ruth-Anne Walker and husband John; Russell Callahan and wife Connie; Wendy Schmittzeh and husband Mark; three great-grandchildren, John, Christi, and Taylor. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. Gifts in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite #300, Topsham, ME 04086.
