Shirley Morton Hall, 80, passed away November 21, 2020. He was born in Machias, September 8, 1940 the son of Harvey and Florence (Elsmore) Hall.
Shirley was a lover of sports and as a student at Machias High School he played varsity baseball and basketball. His favorite coach was Mr. Gardner. Shirley graduated with the class of 1958. In 1964 he graduated from Hansen’s Barber School in Lewiston.
He operated his own barbershop in East Machias until 1970 when he moved with his wife, Patricia and son, Ron to Hermon to build their home. Shirley worked for Doug’s Shop n’ Save as a cashier/stocker and at Hermon Elementary School as an assistant physical education instructor.
Shirley loved old cars, his favorite being a 1957 chevy. He also enjoyed bird watching, going for walks, day trips with his daughter, Mary, sporting events with his son, Alan and spending any time with family. Shirley had a special love for his granddaughter, Rita.
He was predeceased by his parents, daughters, Alice Marie and Jennifer Jean; sisters, Elsie Nason and Ida Cates; brother, Edgar Hall and niece, Melanie Nason. He is survived by his sons, Alan Hall and wife, Nina and their daughter, Rita of Sabattus, Ron Hall and wife, Susan of FL., his daughter, Mary Ellingwood and her husband, Billy of Glenburn; grandchildren, Amanda Beaulieu and Ryan Hall of FL.; sister, Arlene of ME.; his step-mother, Sonya Hall of Kennebec, ME and TX.; half-sister, Regina of ME; nephew, Mike Hall and wife Kelly of Bradford; niece, Beverly Dennison of Eddington and many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 12 to I pm. Tuesday December 1, 2020 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor where a private service will follow. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon.
