Shirley Libby

July 3, 1934 — June 9, 2015

Shirley Maxine (Fields) Libby, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior, June 9, 2015. She was born July 3, 1934, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Elbert and Kay (Doughty) Fields. Shirley was a graduate of the Maine Central Institute. She worked for a time at Dunn and Bradstreet and then worked 34 years for the Bangor Public Library as Head of Acquisitions. Shirley was a long time faithful servant for the Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She is survived by a sister, Rachel Brenckman; brother, Dana Fields; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; four step-children and their spouses; several grandchildren; lifelong friend, Beverly Kane. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Lloyd Libby; brother, Elbert Jr.; sisters Lois (Min) Savard and Rita Fields; grandsons, Jake and Corwin Libby. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday July 3, 2015 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center Street, Bangor followed by a graveside committal at the Maplewood Cemetery, Cape Road in Standish. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:00am until time of service on Friday.
