Bangor- Shirley (Lerner) Schneider, 88, died June 29, 2014 at her residence in Bangor, surrounded by her children, family and friends. She was born July 7, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York; the daughter of Moshe Dov Lerner and Pesel (Hecht). The Matriarch of a jewish home:
Strength and honor were her attire, she smiled at the future.
She spoke with wisdom the lessons of kindness.
She watched over her household, was never idle.
Her children praised her, her husband lauded her.
There are many worthy women, but Mom surpassed them all.
She was neither deceptive nor vain, she feared God and shall be praised.
Shirley was predeceased by 1 week by her loving husband of 65 years, Martin "Mickey" Schneider. A love that strong simply forbade them from living without each other. He waited for her, and she rushed to be with him. They are dancing together. She lived in Bangor since 1948 when she married Mickey. She was the first electrologist in the state of Maine and managed the Electrolysis Center for 50 years. She is survived by children, Paul Schneider of Bangor, Betsy Schneider of Bangor, Debbie Inbar and husband, Yehuda of Boston; grandchildren, Jordan, Andrew and Nicole Schneider, Caleb Sweet, Matthew and Erik Inbar; plus loving nieces and nephews.
