Sonia “Sonny” Buchanan, 93, widow of Carl “Buck” Buchanan, passed away September 6, 2022. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 13, 1928, the daughter of Michael and Clara (Aronowitz) Friedberg.
Sonny grew up in New London, Connecticut where she enjoyed many fun filled adventurers at Ocean Beach Park. In 1955, while working in an ice cream shop, she met and later married Buck. During her time in Maine, Sonny worked at the University of Maine and as a bookkeeper for Carl Buchanan and Associates.
In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her daughter Suzanne Stover and grandchildren Abby and Michael Stover, sister Miriam and brother Martin. Her love of dogs and backyard wildlife brought her much joy. She leaves to mourn, her son Bruce Buchanan and wife Jenny, son-in-law David Stover, as well as several nieces.
