DEL VALLE, TX and BANGOR - Spurgeon “Spud” Benjamin Clark Sr., affectionately known as “Bampa”, born to John Ernest and Mary A. Craig Clark on December 10th, 1929, passed on February 23rd, 2020 surrounded by family.
He graduated from Bangor High 1949, attended Coin Electrical School in Boston Mass. He was a 1st lieutenant in the US Army Corp of Engineers, 50 plus years IBEW electrical superintendent, member and Past Master of Kenduskeag Lodge # 137 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Bangor and Portland and Anah Shrine. He was also a member of the York Rite Bodies Red Cross of Constantine.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Frances Pearce Clark; daughter, Sue McBurney; son, Spurgeon Benjamin Clark Jr. and his wife, Heidi; brother, Norman C. Clark; sister, Dorothy Overlock; grandchildren, Macan, MaryLou, Sara, Chris, Kelly, Benjamin, Mary, John, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Saydie, Madilyn, Yaseen, Cole, Neda, Sara and many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Sonia Jean Clark; brother, John E Clark and sister, Evelyn Goodridge. He will be sorely missed by close family, friends, and adopted grandchildren.
A Masonic ceremony will commence on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Brookings Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, ME at 10 am with funeral service following. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor immediately following the service, Saturday. Burial will be in the spring at Birch Grove Cemetery, Glenburn delayed by winter’s Jack Frost. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
