BREWER - Stanley G. Jacobs, 95, died peacefully February 20, 2022 at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born March 24, 1926, in Bangor, the son of James and Alice (Pinkham) Jacobs.
Stanley served with the U.S. Army in Italy during WWII. After returning from the War, he built and started Stanley’s takeout restaurant in Bucksport. He then married Gloria, of Old Town. Stanley and his brother, James, later went on to build a successful business, Longview Lumber and Furniture in Bucksport and Orrington.
Stanley was an incredibly skilled man. He could fix or build almost anything. He built five homes for his family during his lifetime and started the last one in his late 70’s. He was nimble and strong into his later years, refusing to stop climbing ladders, running chainsaws, climbing on to roofs, etc., into his early 90’s. Always generous with his time, skills, and resources, Stanley was often found helping his family and friends with home improvements, building furniture, and making repairs.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gloria, and their five sons, Rodney and his wife, Susie, of Bangor, Wayne and his wife, Sue, of Orrington, Steven and his wife, Jennifer, of Brewer, Stuart and his wife, Cindy, of Westbrook, Brian and his wife, Lauri, of Glenburn; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
