HOLDEN & GRAFTON,MA - Stephen R. Chapman, 64, died October 23, 2018, at his home in Holden. He was born February 2, 1954, in Natick, MA, the eldest of four sons, born to the late Harold Chapman and Priscilla (Roberts) Chapman of Holden, Maine.
Steve graduated from Westboro High School in 1972 where he received letters in track and hockey and awards in Graphic Arts. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Media and Communications from Rochester Institute of Technology, NY and a Bachelor Degree of Art/Science from Worcester State College. Steve owned and operated Chapman Auto Repair Service in Grafton, MA for over 30 years until he retired. He enjoyed playing keyboard, guitar and drums in a band with a small group of friends in his home. Among Stephen's enjoyable times were those summers spent at Beech Hill Pond in Otis, ME, sailing, swimming and camp life with his family. He also spent time in Belize, Central America, visiting his parents, sailing the reef and golfing. He was also an excellent photographer, providing many pictures of scenery and people for his family to enjoy in his memory.
Stephen was predeceased by his father, Harold Chapman; a brother, Jeffrey Chapman; and an aunt, Charlene Thibodeau. In addition to his mother, Priscilla Chapman of Holden; he is survived by a daughter, Ashley Chapman of Thompson, CT; two brothers, Jonathan Chapman of Dedham, and Christopher Chapman of Holden; an aunt, Marilyn Delmage of Lake Lucerne, NY; and five cousins.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held in Chapman Cemetery, Newburgh, at a later date. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
