Stephen B. Rollins, age 73, of Garland, Maine departed this world for heaven on January 17, 2019. Born November 1, 1945, Steve was a native of Mohegan Island, Maine.

He spent most of his life as a seaman. He proudly served in the US Navy, was a lobsterman and finished the last 10 years of his career sailing the world as a US Merchant Marine. In 1981 Steve was awarded the US Coastguard Silver Lifesaving Medal for his bravery in aiding in the rescue of two Coast Guardsmen that had capsized in a storm, stranded on Smutty Nose Island.
Steve was a talented carpenter, artist, wood worker and well known for his love of cribbage and fishing. He had a generous, gentle spirit and the many friends who dined with him always shared “good groceries”. He wrote and published a children’s book, “Ronnie the Lobster”.
Steve loved helping others. A member of AA, he recently celebrated 30 years of sobriety. He was a member of the Garland Christian Fellowship, Dexter American Legion, Rockport Keystone RAC #24 and Rockland Knox Lodge No. 89.
