Bangor - Stephen R. "Steve" Taylor, 68, left us to go to Heaven to be with the Lord October 8, 2022, surrounded by family, at a Bangor hospital. He was born December 30, 1953, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Ralph W. and Lois A. (Nesbit) Taylor.
Steve graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1972. Following graduation, he met his best friend and the love of his life, Stacey Stover. He attended EMVTI, graduating in 1981 with an associate's degree in Applied Science in Machine Tool Technology. Shortly after, he and Stacey were married September 19, 1981.
He worked many years at the Old Town Mill until it closed. He then worked for Ted Ocana Foresight Engineering, in Lincoln, where he worked until his passing.
Steve was an exceptional guitar player; he started playing in junior high. He played throughout his lifetime with many rock bands, including Redwood, Fastlane, and Shine, where he made many close friends. Steve was left-handed, but he always played a right-handed guitar which he played upside down.
He also loved wood-working and made many beautiful things. In 2002, he tore down Stacey's childhood home and with the help from friends and family, built the house we live in today.
The most important thing in his life was his family; he was so proud of his two sons, Joshua and Matthew. He left his legacy of hard work to them both. Josh inherited his carpentry skills and Matt inherited his skills with the guitar. His love for his grandchildren was so deep; a love equally returned. HE always spoiled then with candy and snacks.
In addition to his loving wife, Stacey, Steve is survived by his sons, Joshua Taylor and his wife, Robin, and Matthew Taylor and his wife, Christina; grandchildren, Lauren, Audrey, Veronica, and Nicholas Taylor; sisters, Storie Brown and her husband, Steve, and Tracey Willard and her husband, John; brother, Andrew Taylor and his wife, Cheri; and many nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 56 Center St., Bangor.
