ORONO- Stephen David Wicks died February 5, 2023 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born June 23, 1967 to loving parents Barbara and Ulrich Wicks.
Stephen grew up in Orono, Maine, where he made life-long friends, and to which he returned. He earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees at New York University, where he also held instructor and advisor positions. In Maine, he held positions at the Maine Center for the Arts and at the University of Maine. Stephen authored three books, was a member of the Maine Arts Commission and the board of the Maine Alliance for Arts Education. Pompeii, Iceland, and Germany highlighted his travels.
Family members and friends have enjoyed and will cherish memories of Stephen’s sense of humor and extensive knowledge of factual details, especially those of history.
Stephen will be missed and warmly remembered by his mother, Barbara; sister, Elisabeth; nephew, Mason; aunt, Susan and husband, Richard; and cousin, Jeffrey. Stephen was predeceased by his father.
