Orrington - Steven James Chalmers, 61, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2023. He was born December 12, 1961 to Jim and Shirley (Collins) Chalmers. Steve spent most of his life in Orrington and was proud of his home which was built on land sold to him by his uncle, Don Adams.
Steve was predeceased by his father in October of 2020; his grandparents, aunts and uncles, who were a big part of his life growing up. He was also predeceased by his beloved cat, Oscar. Steve is survived by his mother, Shirley; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Tom Winston, and his nephew, Ethan Winston; as well as many cousins and special friends he considered as family.
Steve led a life that was an inspiration to all he met. After his accident at 19 years old he continued to lead life to the fullest. He enjoyed working in the woods, hunting, fishing and spending time at both the hunting camp and the camp on Lucerne each summer.
He was most happy when he was helping others. Whether that was meeting with a new para who he could give hope to or supporting the local food bank. His generosity was endless. He was blessed to have amazing neighbors, Chip and Karen, whom he thought the world of. His lifelong friend, Mark and friend, Danny were like brothers to him and he had wonderful memories of the time spent with them through the years. Steve made lasting friendships with people involved with his care. Terri and Lisa have been there from the beginning and most recently Jenn and her girls whom he adored.
It was his wish to have a Celebration of Life for family and friends to gather, to eat, to share stories and good memories. The family would like to invite you to join them at Jeff's Catering, 15 Eventcenter Way, Brewer, on Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Special thanks to all those who made his last days peaceful and happy, and to the special people from Gentiva Hospice. Anyone wishing to honor his memory is asked to simply pay it forward and do something nice for someone who needs it.
