Susan Charlotte Kelley Allen, 64, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bangor. She was born February 16, 1959, in Bar Harbor the daughter of Edward Kelley and Cristal A. (Schwinzer) Gifford.
Susan graduated from Bucksport High School. She worked as a waitress at Jed Prouty’s Restaurant where she was fortunate to have met her husband Dennis. Susan later opened her own childcare business called Little Ways in Bucksport. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in S. Brewer. Susan enjoyed crafts and loved to sew and knit as well as was an avid reader. She loved the ocean and loved traveling Downeast meeting up with family and friends. Her family was her life and loved she her husband, children, siblings, and all of her family dearly.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Dennis Allen of Orrington; her daughter, Andrea Allen and husband Tony, of Orrington; grandchildren, Faith, Christian, Dominic and Grace Adams; her siblings, Eric Simpson of Bucksport, Heidi Vares, and husband Shannon of Placerville, CA; step-daughters, Jessica Nardone and her children, Christopher, Madison and Brooke Power; Michelle Keene and her children, Nathan Gray, Jaelon, Glenn and Marina Keene. In addition to her parents she was predeceased two brothers, Michael Kelley and William Kelley.
Friends are welcome to gather with the family from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 426 S. Main Street, Brewer. Rite of Committal will be held in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
