Sylvia May Belanger, 81, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016, in her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 1st, 1934, in Edinburg, Maine, the daughter of Ruth and Roy Anderson. Sylvia was a talented artist known for her beautiful paintings that were proudly displayed and sold at several locations in the Bangor area. Sylvia worked in the shoe industry for several decades has a hand sewer. She moved on to Ross Manor where she worked as a dietician aid. Sylvia was a devoted wife to her predeceased husband of 52 years, Albert C. Belanger Sr., and a loving mother to her two children: Albert Belanger Jr. and Fiancé Cindy Horten and Christine Wren and her husband Bobby Wren.
Sylvia committed her life to her family and friends and was a caring mother and grandmother. Sylvia enjoyed looking for the latest bargain at the local yard sales in the area and enjoyed the ocean and frequented the coast during the summer seasons. When she wasn’t lounging in her sun chair on her front porch, she also loved her art sessions at the Bangor senior center and also loved going to the local music jams. Sylvia loved showing her creativity in her clothing style, usually sporting her fluorescent green sneakers, and purple hat. Some of the greatest memories for the family were created by Sylvia during the holiday seasons where she would prepare a feast for the whole family to enjoy. Words can’t describe how much she will be missed by all her family and friends.
Sylvia is survived by her sister Louise Ferguson; her brother Gerald Anderson; son, Albert C. Belanger Jr.; daughter, Christine Wren of Levant; seven grandchildren: Richard, Colby, Denice and Angela Brown, Sean Belanger, Todd Berlucchi, Nicole Pineo; great-grandchildren: Sean Jr., Alexis, Alex, Kourtney, Autum, Arianna, Anastasia, Calista, Natasha, Alyssa, Brittany, Maci, Taylor, Madeline, Mason, Gavin, and many friends.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20th, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor following the service.
