December 20, 1935 — August 4, 2015

DIXMONT – Sylvia Theresa Hachey, 79, died August 4, 2015 at her home of 40 years in Dixmont, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 20, 1935 in Bangor, daughter of Thomas and Mildred (Ayer) Boudreau.

Sylvia graduated as an honor student from John Bapst Memorial in 1954 and attended Husson College. She married Richard E. Hachey Sr. on September 4, 1954. Sylvia was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. She was a gifted crafter who received many awards and ribbons for her outstanding crochet doilies. Sylvia was admired and respected for her work at several local craft fairs which she attended for over 27 years. She enjoyed providing for her family with spectacular home cooked meals and sewing for her family. You could always find her amongst her flowers and vegetable garden. She enjoyed cross word puzzles, Jeopardy, her doll collection, quilting and word search puzzles. Sylvia had compassion for animals, including providing for a number of stray cats in the neighborhood over the years.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Richard E. Hachey Sr. in 2013 as well as both of her parents. She is survived by her sister Mary Moskel; two brothers, Patrick and David Boudreau; her children, Debra Evirs, Diane Ruscoe, Wayne Hachey and significant other Kim Preble, Richard E. Hachey Jr. and wife Nancie White, Theresa Kelleher and Paula Pelletier; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as, a special niece Vicki Karlsson. A special thank you to our angel Kim Preble for providing exceptional care for our parents over the last several years. She went above and beyond the call of duty and we will all be forever grateful and she will always be a member of our family.

A funeral service will be held 1pm Friday August 7, 2015 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden with the Rev. Dick Woehr officiating. Friends are welcome to call 12 noon until time of service Friday. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
