Marysville, WA and Bangor – Mom passed peacefully from death unto life in Christ on March 25th, 2016. She was surrounded by her daughters, Marian and Lynne and her dogs, Dorie and Cindy. Thelma was born August 6, 1917, in Mars Hill, to Harley and Emma (Sennett) Thomas. She was the eldest daughter in a family of 18. She had stories galore of a hard life during the depression that was shared without bitterness but rather with a sense of accomplishment for all that got done with so very little.
Thelma was a devoted believer who attended Pentecostal Assembly in Bangor. She taught VBS with Margaret McGinnis; Junior Church with Robina Thompson; and adult Sunday School with Pauline Garland and Louise Church. Mom also led Tuesday night Bible study with Helen Crabtree. My mom read her Bible daily. She faithfully prayed for all her family and friends and special prayer requests even for a dying dog who recovered. She leaves a strong legacy of faith and prayer for us all to emulate. Her baking was legendary, especially, her cinnamon rolls.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Craig and her son, Harley Craig. She is survived by her children: Eva (Craig) McKinnon, Marian Craig, Mannie (Jeanette) Craig, Rose (Warren) Benner, Elinor Craig (wife of Harley Craig (d)), and Lynne Craig with whom she lived for the latter part of her life. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 5 great- great grandchildren, her brother, Vinal Thomas and her sister, Norma Berry, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Thelma, Sis, Nana, Nana-Great, Aunt Thelma, Sister Craig was loved by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to come to a memorial gathering to remember her 10 A.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, Bangor. Interment will be at Hart’s Corner Cemetery in Holden. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com
