Theodora Soulas

November 22, 1919 — June 15, 2015

Theodora (Doris) Soulas, 95, passed away peacefully in Arizona on June 15, 2015. Born on November 22, 1919, to Gregor and Froso Zoidis, she was the only daughter and youngest of four.

While attending school in Bangor, Doris worked with her father in the family grocery store showing a keen business sense. She then proceeded to work with her brothers Peter, Paul and Ernie at the family owned Pilots Grill restaurant, a Bangor mainstay for decades. She married her husband, Robert Soulas, on June 16, 1946, and semi-retired when she began raising her three children and stayed at home with them until her youngest graduated from high school. Utilizing her business experience, with her husband, Bob, founded Soulas Hearing Aids and became a pioneer as one of the first women in that field. When not at work she could often be found in the kitchen with her sister-in-law Dot Zoidis cooking up fabulous Greek dishes for church functions and social gatherings. She was a wonderful hostess and loved to entertain.

A loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Doris is predeceased by her husband, Robert, and grandson, Michael Benoit. Survivors include her children, Rob, Linda Knoblock and husband Dave, Bruce and wife Marilyn, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
