Theodore Wegerdt

February 2, 1930 — April 7, 2016

HERMON – Theodore L. Wegerdt, Jr., 86, died Thursday April 7, 2016 at a Bangor hospital following surgery. He was born February 2, 1930 at the Newton-Wellesley hospital in Newton, MA, the son of Theodore L. Wegerdt, Sr. and Catherine (McCarthy) Wegerdt, descendants of Germany and Ireland.

Ted graduated from Wellesley High School in 1947, the Rivers School, Weston MA in 1948 and University of Vermont, class of 1952. Ted served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War, graduating from the Infantry School, Fort Benning, GA and the Ordnance School, Fort Meade, MD. He was associated with Bean & Conquest, Inc. of Bangor for over 30 years, becoming a co-owner in later years.

Ted is survived by his wife, Carolyn M. Mooney Wegerdt of Hermon; a sister, Kathryn Kearns of Medfield, MA and a brother, Paul Wegerdt of Walpole, MA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 sisters, Virginia Markey, Ann Thorgerson, and Margaret Heffron, all of Massachusetts.

Ted’s journey throughout life was rich in associations with good people, good family and fortunate experiences for which he was grateful. Although his mother died in 1943 and his father in 1956, their spirits and infusion of values lasted with him a lifetime. Ted will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Private services will be held this spring. Those who wish to remember Ted in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the restoration of the Kitchen, United Baptist Church, 86 Middle Street, Old Town, ME 04468. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
