Thomas F. Gallant, Jr.

BANGOR – Thomas F. Gallant, Jr., 89, passed away March 2, 2020 at a local hospital. He was born October 7, 1930, in Bangor, the son of Thomas F. Gallant, Sr. and J. Bernice (Griffin) Gallant.

Tom attended St. John’s Elementary and John Bapst Memorial High School where he lettered in three sports, football, basketball and baseball. He was inducted in the John Bapst Hall of Fame. Tom served 22 years in the Navy and retired as a Warrant Officer in 1971. He enjoyed attending all local football and baseball games, loved to play cribbage and dancing at the Eagles Club in Brewer.

Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosemary (Rivers) Gallant; his children, Terri Sleeper and her husband, Steven, Thomas Gallant III, Cynthia Gallant, and Heather Walker and her husband, Glenn; stepson, Scott Rivers and wife, Ivy Whitlock; step-daughter, Gayle (Royal) Bailey and her husband, Keith; grandchildren, Keith Moores II and his wife, Brittany, Michael Sleeper, Christopher Crews, Carmen Higgins and her husband, Brandon, Tyler Field, Caine Field and Kaydence Tripp; three great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Lyla and Ava Higgins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn C. Black and his granddaughter, Michelle Sleeper. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospital 5th Floor for their kindness and compassionate care of Thomas.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1pm, Thursday, March 5, 2020 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York Street, Bangor followed by the Rite of Committal with military honors at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the services, Thursday.
