Bangor - Thomas W. Goode "Tom" passed away on May 15, 2024, at a local hospital after a long period of declining health. He was born in Presque Isle, Maine, on November 1, 1939, to Blair E. and Agnes M. Good.
Tom met the love of his life, Del, at Zayres department store in 1960 and was instantly smitten. He swept her off her feet with his quick wit, lovable charm, handsome good looks, and impeccable attire. They were married in 1963 and he was a loving, attentive, devoted husband throughout their long marriage.
A devout Catholic, he and his wife, Del, raised their children in the Catholic church. Tom's faith was a cornerstone in his life and provided him with strength and solace throughout the years. He was a Knights of Columbus member, sang in the church choir, and attended Bible classes at various times in his life.
Tom graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1958. As a young man, he worked at Loring Air Force Base and took classes at Aroostook State Teachers College. In 1970 he settled in Bangor with his wife and three children.
In 1982 he was hired by the United State Postal Service as an assistant personnel director, later becoming Post Master at both the Levant and China (ME) locations. He retired from the United States Postal Service and continued his hobby career in real estate sales, which he enjoyed for more than ten years.
Tom was an avid nature enthusiast and maintained beautiful gardens at his home. He'll be fondly remembered as a lover of all animals. He most always had a pocket full of dog bones for the neighborhood pups, a bag of feed for the ducks at the nearby pond, bird feeders overflowing with seed in his backyard, and a long pat or snuggle for his many cats.
He was a lifelong learner and loved to sing, play his electric guitar, paint, cross-country ski, go for long drives and bike rides, ballroom dance with his wife and putter for hours around the yard.
Tom was exceedingly humble, and most people never knew what an empathetic, caring, compassionate, and hard-working man he was. His many acts of kindness were often done without the knowledge of the person he helped, but he impacted hundreds in many ways throughout his life.
Thomas was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, Ralph, Lawrence, Richard, and Galen; his son-in-law, David. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Del; children, Lyn Cassidy (Pat Quinn), LeAnne Roberts (Brad Cordes), and Mark Goode; grandchildren, Christine (Ryan), Melissa (Sam), Sydney, Jaslyn (Avery), and Victoria, his great-grandson, Jackson Thomas, who he lovingly referred to as "Tommy Junior"; and sister-in-law, Pat Good.
