WINTERPORT – Thomas A. “Tommy” McCann IV, 49, died peacefully alongside his wife at their home January 29, 2019, after a brief diagnosis of cancer. He was born June 20, 1969, in Bangor, the son of Thomas and Gladys (Gerry) McCann.
Tommy “Boss” attended Bangor schools. Following school, he went to work as a mechanic at his family’s business at Shamrock Auto Sales. Tommy then was an owner/operator of his own dump truck for J.G. Faulkner, in order for his wife, Missy, to earn her degree in Nursing. From there, he ran his own shop, Thomas McCann & Sons Auto Repair. Tommy enjoyed toys, big and small, and enjoyed the pleasures that it brought him and others involved. He and his wife and friends spent much time in their side-by-side, playing in the mud. Tommy and Missy enjoyed buying antiques, in order to complete their mantra of a man-cave. He finally obtained his dream car, 2014 Z51 Stingray Corvette, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Tommy touched many many lives, from customers in his shop, people in his hometown, friends, family, strangers; everybody whom he met. Everyone was a friend to him.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by a special friend, Joey. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 28 years, Missy; his sons, Brandon & Tom; a grandson, Ian; a grand-dog, Letty Lou; siblings, Timmy & Teresa, Diane, Terry & Cricket, Lori & Kurt, Lisa & Terry; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday February 3, 2019, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor.
