Valmore Emile Belanger
LEVANT - Valmore Emile Belanger, 84, died July 6th, 2023, with his family by his side in Levant, ME. Val was born December 18, 1938, in Connor, ME to parents, Emile and Mary Fabiola Belanger.
Val loved the great outdoors and when he wasn’t working, he could often be found camping, boating, four-wheeling, fishing, snowmobiling, hunting or just jumping in the truck to go look for moose or deer. He particularly loved going moose hunting with his nephew, Brad and his great-nephew, Logan. He married the love of his life, Carol, on February 24th 1978 and together they had one daughter, Nichole. Val was a hard worker, always taking care of his home and family. After a brief start as a milkman with Grants Dairy, Val became a mechanic and worked on transmissions for 40 years, ultimately working in his own shop until retiring from the automotive industry at the age of 62. Shortly thereafter Val went to work for the North Maine Woods for 9 years as a checkpoint receptionist and then spent a couple of years doing campsite work before he found his true calling as a Recreational Park Ranger for the State of Maine. He loved this job almost as much as he loved playing ball with his sweet dog Molly. Being a Park Ranger combined work with what he loved to do most. Whenever he spoke about his work, Val’s eyes would light up with joy and he would smile. Val often worked side by side with his grandson Dylan or his daughter Nichole, who shared his love of the outdoors and worked as volunteers. Val was loved and respected by his coworkers and fellow Rangers and he viewed them as a second family.
Val is predeceased by his parents, brother, Ronald Belanger and sister, Della Napfel.
Val is survived by his wife, Carol Belanger, of Maine; four daughters, Nichole Belanger and Valerie Rossignol, of Maine, Pamela Depue, of Oregon and Susan Crosby, of Iowa; three sons, Jeffrey Belanger and Jay Belanger, of Maine and Dean Belanger, of Alaska; two stepdaughters, Vicky Ashlock, of Arizona and Wendi Choiniere, of North Carolina; brother, Arnold Belanger, of Alaska; four sisters, Linda Lusardi and Melinda Hess, of Maine, Alva Bylow, of Texas, and Candice Davis, of Oklahoma and many beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
