Hampden - Velma G. Rogers, 93, died January 28, 2022. She was born on June 15, 1928, in Gouldsboro, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Leighton) Lewis.
Velma had a passion for dancing and loved all forms, especially square dancing and clogging. She enjoyed spending time talking with people and going out to dinner with friends.
In addition to her parents, Velma was predeceased by her loving husband, Sumner; her sister, Edna Kief whom she was very close too and cared for; brothers, Arthur Reed and Rea Lewis; sisters, Marjorie Wright and Kay Chipman; brother-in-law, Leamon Chipman.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine Church of Bangor; special grandson, Michael Buonopane and his wife, Laurie, of Billerica, MA; granddaughter, Donna Servitelli; brother-in-law, Clayton Rogers of Brewer; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St., Bangor where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joseph Dunton, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith 163 Center St., immediately following the service. Spring interment will be held in Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden.
