VERDA T. LECLAIR
BANGOR - Verda T. LeClair, 93, died peacefully April 12, 2020 at a Bangor nursing home. She was born November 5, 1926 in Cambridge MA, the daughter of James C. and Phoebe (Prue) Thompson.
Verda was raised in Orono by her mother Phoebe and stepfather Lyndon Treadwell, Sr. and graduated from Orono High School in 1944. She married Linwood F. LeClair in 1947 and together, they moved to Houlton, then Limestone, where they raised four children. They moved their family to Bangor in 1964. Verda worked at Bangor High School, in the PE Office and the Business Office.
After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed time at their camp on the coast in Steuben. Verda organized her 50th High School Reunion in 1994. She was active in St. Mary’s Parish in Bangor, EMMC Heart-to-Heart Patient Support, and the Ecumenical Food Cupboard.
Verda and her husband were inseparable during 61 years of marriage. After her husband passed in 2008, she enjoyed organizing the Library at Sunbury Village. In her final years, Verda’s caring nature cheered others at Winterberry Heights. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Linwood F. LeClair; brothers, Lyndon, Arthur, and James Treadwell; sister, Elaine Wade and her husband, Gerald; sister-in-law Virginia Treadwell; brothers-in-law, Henry, Raymond and Alfred LeClair; sister-in-law, Caritha Cyr and her husband, Wilfrid; her husband’s cousin, Alfreda Morneault, and her husband, Camille.
Surviving, are her daughters, Linda LeClair, of Brewer, Mary LeClair Graf, and her husband, Matt of Essex Junction VT; sons, James LeClair and his wife, Patti (Cromwell) LeClair, of Belfast, Robert LeClair and his wife, Ellen Kuhn, of Tenafly, NJ; five grandchildren, Richard Graf and his wife, Angela, of Gray, Emily Graf, of Queens, NY, Matthew Graf, and his wife, Louisa, of Lander, WY, Hannah LeClair, of Philadelphia, PA and Malcolm LeClair, of Somerville, MA; four great-grandchildren, Gavin Paddack, Aiden Graf, Miles Graf and Rosalie Graf; sisters-in-law, Frances Treadwell, and Carole Treadwell, of Orono, Ethel LeClair, of Kittery, and Janet LeClair, of Yorktown, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
