BANGOR AND NEWPORT – Vernal R. Wyman, 87, passed peacefully, May 23, 2015. He was born April. 10, 1928, in Newport, the son of Archie and Clydie (Gray) Wyman.
Vernal serviced his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War, and he was awarded The Purple Heart. Vernal was an avid baseball player, and he was a musician and performer. He was a member of the American Legion in Corinna and of the D.A.V. Vernal was a hard worker, and very patriotic. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Vernal is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Elaine Ann (Mott) Wyman; children, Richard, Gregory, Debra, Jeffrey, and Philip; step children, Lynn, Denise, Everett, and Douglas; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Evangeline and Joan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Raymond, Ernest, Arlene, and Harold.
A memorial service will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta, with the date and time to be announced in the Wednesday edition of the BDN.
