Vernon A. Cunningham III
Bangor – Vernon A. Cunningham III, 85, died December 6, 2020 just the way he wanted with his family by his side at home. He was born March 20, 1935 in Milford, the son of Vernon A. Cunningham Jr. and Ruth (Clarke) Cunningham.
Our Dad graduated from Old Town High School Class of 1953. Following graduation he worked for several construction companies before beginning his 42 year career at Bangor and Aroostook Railroad where he worked as a Conductor and Yard Master. He also owned and operated Cunningham’s Landscaping, and Cunningham’s Florist.
He loved to garden, watch and attend Red Sox games, listen to country music, and travel with his favorite place being Brown’s Wharf in Boothbay Harbor. He was known for getting up very early in the morning to get freshly made donuts to deliver to his friends at his bank and his daughter’s work place. Our Dad was a huge flirt everywhere he went and had a wonderful sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Glenna, brother David, and sisters Connie and Carolyn. He is survived by his sons Vernon and wife Karen of Old Town, Kevin of Milford, Daniel of Veazie, daughter Ruth Mewa and husband Ed of Milford, the mother of his children Ann of Veazie, grandchildren Heidi, Holly, Tasha, Laura, Jeni, Stephanie, Jamie, Matt and great grandchildren Gavin, Camden, Grace and Jaxson.
There will be a graveside celebration of life in Houlton in the spring.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Healthcare, and a very special thank you to Kindred Hospice and to Christine and Lesa of Silver Linings, you are true angels.
