Vernon Doak

Eddington -
Vernon L. Doak, 83, died April 25, 2014, at the Maine Veteran’s Home Bangor. He was born October 10, 1930, in Caribou, the son of Roy Melvin and Mary Ann (Goss) Doak. Vernon was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving 42 years, 11 months, 14 days. He was an avid gun enthusiast for many years. Vernon was a life member of the American Legion Post 98 of Brewer, The John F. Kennedy DAV Chapter #6, Voiture 40 and 8 #427. He was a Charter Member of the American Legion Post 84 Honor Guard of Orono, a member of The Orrington Rod and Gun Club, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his daughter Rosemary Ann (Doak) Pasteris and her husband Stanley of Eddington, a grandson Sgt. Michael Vernon Woods of Eddington, two great grandsons, Cameron and Blake Michael, one special nephew William R. Arbuckle III, whom Vernon raised, two brothers Keith M. Doak and his wife Shirley and Kenneth M. Doak and his wife Doris, all of Brewer, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Sarah (Betts) Doak. The family would like to thank the Veteran’s Home and PCHC Hospice Care for their loving, compassionate care.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 – 7 pm Friday, May 2 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith 55 South Main St, Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 1 pm Saturday, May 3, 2014 with Terry Costigan, Pastor in Sonshine Ministries TCBC.
Interment with military honors will be held in the Eddy Cemetery, Eddington.
