Vianney L. "Vinny" Soucy

March 15, 1963 — October 27, 2019

HAMPDEN – Vianney L. “Vinny” Soucy, 56, left this world October 27, 2019, after a courageous battle with ALS. His smile, laughter, and love will leave a hole forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Vinny was a U.S. Navy veteran who served 4 years active duty and 20 years reserve duty. He was very proud of his years of serving his country. He also worked driving for UPS for 30 years and was the teamster Union Local 340 President for 2 years. He served its members well and truly cared about what was best for the union. Vinny was an avid golfer and planned on spending his retirement years on the course. He loved his weekly card games with the guys and hanging out with friends and family and the many adventures with “our gang.” Above all this, he loved his wife and sons more than anything and proved it over and over with action and how he lived his life.

Our hearts are broken, but we will remember the many happy times we shared and take comfort in knowing he is now at peace.

Vinny is survived by his adoring wife of 36 years, Tricia; sons, Christopher and Matthew; a daughter-in-law, Breanna; loving parents, Normand and Germaine Soucy; brothers, Alain Soucy and wife, Jenise, Francis Soucy and wife, Nichole, Marc Soucy and wife, Kelly, a sister, Chantal Dube; sister-in-law, Lisa Squiers and partner, Kenn Howard; in-laws, Kathy and Earl Squiers; many nieces & nephews, cousins, and aunts & uncles. Vinny also leaves behind many very special friends who he considered family.

A celebration of life to honor Vinny will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments back at the family home, 45 Hopkins Road, Hampden, immediately following the service Saturday. Interment will be in Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. Those wishing to remember Vinny in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the ALS Therapy Development Institute, 300 Technology Square, Suite 400, Cambridge, MA 02139 (www.ALS.net/donate) or to the Travis Mills Foundation, 89 Water St. Hallowell, ME. 04347 (www.travismills.org).
