Vicki Lynch

August 12, 1973 — November 17, 2019

VEAZIE - Vicki (Pinkham) Lynch, 46, passed away in her home surrounded by family on November 17, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with melanoma. She was born in Skowhegan on August 12, 1973 to Toni (Gray) Pinkham.

Vicki poured a lot of time into loving and supporting her two children, Heidi and Owen. She spent much of her early adult life at soccer and basketball games, or hosting playdates for her children and their friends. She was very proud of both of their successes in high school and college, Owen who is currently studying Optical Engineering at the University of Rochester, and Heidi who is following in her footsteps by pursuing a career in teaching.

Vicki spent many summers enjoying camping with friends, especially close friends Rosemary and Andrew Freese. She could often be found playing Skip-Bo, Cribbage, other card games, or reading a book while enjoying the outdoors.

Vicki was an incredibly selfless and caring person. She began her teaching career at Merrill Hall at the University of Maine, and devoted the last eight years of her life to teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Asa C. Adams Elementary, a program that she founded. She made every child feel special and loved, and did everything in her power to be certain that each child got the most that they could out of their year with her. Vicki especially enjoyed taking pictures of the children, and sharing those photos with families on her blog, and in a slideshow at the end of every school year. Many parents have expressed their love for Vicki, stating that she did so much for their children and for their family, even if it meant working extra hours, or attending out-of-school functions. Vicki became a strong advocate for children who needed extra support, ensuring that each child had appropriate clothing and food, and that each child got the extra services that they may have needed. She was loved by her many coworkers, some of them describing her devotion as inspirational. Vicki expressed sadness that she would not be able to say good-bye to her beloved Orono students, and wanted to make sure that every single one of them knew that she loved them.

Vicki was predeceased by her grandparents, Charlotte and Ralph Gray, and her nana, Rachael Pinkham. She is survived by her mother, Toni (Gray) Pinkham; her loving husband, Todd Lynch; children, Heidi and Owen Lynch; six siblings, including sister, Sonia Batchelder and her husband, Gavin; their children, Hannah and Abigail; brother, Andrew Pinkham and his wife, Katie; sister, Andrea Bushway and her husband, George; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and hundreds of students whom will all carry a piece of her with them.

A celebration of life will be held 2pm Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Stone Manor, 89 Main St., Orono, with Rev. Dan Russell officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family from 1:30pm until time of service. A reception at the Asa C. Adams Elementary School Gymnasium, 6 Goodridge Drive, Orono, will be held immediately following the service at 3:30pm. Those who wish to remember Vicki in a special way are encouraged to bring books to the reception for donation at the Asa C. Adams Elementary School Library or make a memorial contribution to the library, C/O: Todd Lynch, 1007 Randolph Dr, Veazie, ME 04401. Guests are encouraged to wear a touch of pink in her honor.
